Moving from Termius

Leave Termius without retyping a host: groups, tags, ports, users and saved passwords come with them.

Termiyo imports the CSV file that Termius’s own Import › CSV reads, so your Termius hosts come across with their groups, tags, protocol, port, user name and saved password, into your encrypted vault. Use it when you are leaving Termius and do not want to retype your hosts. SSH keys do not come across, because the CSV has no column for them.

Termius has no export of its own, so Termiyo reads the file Termius’s own Import › CSV uses: fill in the template, or use a community exporter that writes it, and import it in one go.

Recorded in Termiyo, importing a test template filled in for the recording, with addresses from the range kept for documentation. No real host or password appears.

Steps

  1. Get the template

Open Servers, press “Add server” and choose Termius. With no file to pick yet, cancel the file chooser: the import still opens, and under “Moving from Termius” the “Download template” button saves the CSV with the right columns — Groups, Label, Tags, Hostname/IP, Protocol, Port, Username, Password.

    Groups,Label,Tags,Hostname/IP,Protocol,Port,Username,Password Production/Web,web-01,"prod,nginx",203.0.113.11,ssh,22,deploy,
  2. Fill it in

One row per host; Hostname/IP must be filled in. Write a group inside a group as Production/Web, several tags in one cell as prod, web, and Protocol as ssh, mosh or telnet (empty means SSH). In a spreadsheet, format the Password column as text and save as CSV UTF-8.

  3. Import it

Choose Termius again and pick the file. The preview shows each host inside its group, with its tags, and names anything left out under “Not imported”. Press “Import” with the count.

  4. Check what came across

Each host arrives with its group, tags, protocol, port, username and password, in your personal vault; “Group by folder” on the Servers page shows the groups. Passwords are stored in the vault encrypted and are never shown in the window or written to a log.

Good to know

  • Keys do not come across: the CSV has no column for a key, so a host you reached with one (through MultiKey or SSH ID too) arrives without it. Add your own key in Settings and put its public half on the server.
  • Only SSH, Mosh and Telnet hosts come across from this file. Telnet hosts keep their saved password in the vault, but Termiyo does not type it in for you.

Transcript

Leave Termius without retyping a host: groups, tags, ports, users and saved passwords come with them.

Download the template, with Termius’s own columns.

Fill in a row per host, and save it as CSV.

Import it. The preview shows every host in its group, with its tags, before anything is written.

Groups, tags and saved passwords arrive, encrypted in your vault.
